Courses & Events

BAMA would like to invite its members to the exclusive Future of Aerosol Workshop delivered by the long-term academic partner of the association, The Retail Institute.

BAMA has played an active role in cross-sector Collaborative Industry Groups for the Future of Packaging. Building on insights from this work, this focused workshop has been designed specifically for BAMA members to support strategic, long-term thinking within the aerosol sector.

Future of Aerosols: Futures & Foresight

The Futures & Foresight Learning methodology aims to help organisations, governments and individuals to anticipate, prepare for, and influence future developments. It is a structured approach to understanding possible futures, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and developing strategies that are resilient and adaptable. It provides a systematic approach to exploring multiple plausible futures, identifying emerging risks and opportunities, and developing strategies that are both resilient and adaptable in the face of uncertainty.

The methodology places particular emphasis on:

  • Understanding interdependencies within complex systems, such as packaging and aerosols
  • Encouraging blue-sky and exploratory thinking
  • Translating long-term insights into desirable, actionable future pathways

Workshop Format & Audience

This is a highly interactive, facilitated session with a limited number of participants to ensure meaningful discussion and depth of engagement.

The workshop is intended for senior decision-makers with responsibility for packaging, sustainability, innovation, or strategy within their organisations. Participation is limited to one representative per company

Drawing on the collective expertise of BAMA members, the session will:

  • Explore multiple potential futures for the aerosol industry
  • Anticipate sector-wide risks and opportunities
  • Identify strategic actions that can be progressed both at an organisational level and collectively through BAMA as a trade association

Participants will:

  • Develop strategic foresight capabilities to support long-term decision-making
  • Stimulate innovative thinking and systems-based problem solving
  • Identify areas for coordinated industry action, including lobbying, research priorities, technology scouting, and targeted working groups
  • Enhance organisational resilience by planning across multiple future scenarios, including economic, environmental, social, and technological shocks
  • Contribute to sustainable futures, integrating long-term ethical, environmental, and societal considerations into present-day strategies and policies

Benefits of Participation

Applying Futures & Foresight approaches enables individuals and organisations to move beyond short-term planning, supporting more informed, responsible, and future-ready decision-making. The workshop will equip participants with practical tools and perspectives to anticipate change, prepare for uncertainty, and actively shape the future of the aerosol industry.
