BAMA will be holding an online seminar for retailers on Thursday 4th September. The aim of the Retailer Liaison Group Meeting is to provide retailers with a firm grasp of recently introduced and/or updated UK regulations that affect aerosol products.
How to comply with EPR and RAM
Under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme, those placing products on the market, including retailers, will bear a financial responsibility for the collection, recycling, or disposal of items following consumer use. As the first reporting deadline in October approaches, BAMA will explain more about EPR data requirements, reporting, and fees to help those involved with the retail of aerosols.
Forming part of EPR is the Recycling Assessment Methodology (RAM) – a UK legislative framework which measures the recyclability of each component in household packaging waste. To further support retailers in how to comply with potential complexities relating to RAM, the BAMA team will run through example assessments using a variety of aerosol products.
Aerosol Dispenser Regulations updates – access to free Guide
Since the UK’s exit from the EU, the UK Aerosol Dispenser Regulations have undergone a series of amendments in relation to compliance marking and are currently under review again. BAMA will offer advice on compliancy and provide free access to the second edition of the BAMA Guide which includes specific guidance on the regulations.
Revised on-pack caution statement for aerosol containers
Also on the agenda will be details of a new inhalation caution mark and statement developed by BAMA and its members and serving as an alternative to the SACKI (Solvent Abuse Can Kill Instantly) caution label. The research BAMA has been doing suggests that because of changes in language use over the years, the message on the existing SACKI label may no longer be effective.
Patrick Heskins says; “One of the most important aspects of the work we do as an association is staying on top of ongoing legislative developments that impact our sector. In an ever more complex regularity environment, this enables us to not only support our members, but wider industry stakeholders including retailers.”
